Conway

Conway is one of those older Winnipeg character homes worth renovating carefully rather than gutting. The original maple hardwood, the painted staircase and beadboard skirting, the arched cased openings, the wide trim and the brick fireplace were all worth keeping — so Nyce Renos restored them rather than replacing them. Floors were refinished, the fireplace painted out in black against the textured wall, and every original door, casing and baseboard repaired and repainted. New lighting and a large front window brightened the whole main floor. It reads current now, but nothing that gave the house its character was lost getting there.
